Who We Are & What We Do
You’re probably wondering Who Is Brando?
Well, Brando is that stunning young gent in the above photo… the fuzzy one to be precise. Having a face reminiscent of a Tim Burton button-eyed character, this blind Lhasa is a superb cuddler and can find a pea-sized shred of chicken just as quick as Stevie Wonder can rock that f13 piano chord.
Blind and eyeless, Brando was abandoned in the Bronx. Brought into an animal control center that didn’t notice his potential as a great companion, he was put on the euthanasia list. It was through our adoption that Brando got a new lease on life. Once considered “disposable” Brando’s companionship has proven to be top tier. Brando is the inspiration for our Brando’s Funky Finds vintage and antique shop.
You may be wondering Who Are They?
- Devon- The mastermind behind the shop with a Peter Pan Complex…but he doesn’t climb trees – he’s afraid of heights.
- Nicki- Devon’s pick’n sidekick, the love of his life and the pain in his ass.
We are a couple from NY. We have a shared love for pick’n and finding antique or vintage items. We keep an eye out for anything unique, interesting, fun or funky. Seen as disposable to some but having potential to others, we strive to bring the best back into the market for revival. Inspired by our dog Brando’s story and in the spirit of recycling and sustainability, helping discarded treasures find new homes is our passion.
There is also a possibility you are thinking What Do They Plan to Blog About?
To stock our online shop and also to quench our lust for “oldies, but goodies”, we “pick” from just about anywhere we can find interesting and rare items. From huge estate sales to small garage sales, from pristine auctions to dusty basements, and everywhere in between. We will post about the history behind the items when we come to learn about them. Some stories are a bit wacky, some have a history lesson involved, but they are all super interesting.
We are pretty new to the wonderful world of antiquing and even newer to Etsy. As a couple we have fun (and sometimes fights) on our crazy pick’n adventures—especially when Devon makes Nicki wake up at the ass crack of dawn in the cold to stalk out an estate sale to ensure early entrance.
