No More Vacations?!?!
Since we opened up our shop in October of last year, I, Devon, have been going none stop. Whether it be pick’n, promoting, taking pictures, creating listings and networking, I was on-the-go constantly (no exaggeration). Without a doubt, I enjoy what I do and would definitely rather work 80hrs a week for myself over working 40hrs a week for someone else.
It wasn’t until Christmas came around that I realized, “Holy, sh*t balls. It’s Christmas? Where the hell have I been? Oh, damn. I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun.” Just as much as I wanted to continue living in the vacuum that I created, I had to reevaluate things. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day came and went. It almost felt as if I had hit the FFWD button on that seemingly nifty little remote control that Adam Sandler had in the movie “Click” (2006). If that movie taught me anything it taught me to watch out for the unforeseen FFWD button consequences!!
FFWD button = NO BUENO!
So, As 2012 started knocking on the door, I thought “I’m going to take a mini vacation. I deserve it!” For 3 whole GLOOOoorriouss days I refused to check my shop stats, refused to post new listings, refused to research and contact potential picking sites and instead…I just laid on the couch and indulged in a gigantic cuddle puddle with my girlfriend and two dogs.
As we clicked through Netflix in the hopes of finding a new horror film that would surely be worth our time, there were times when I would catch the light flickering just right off my girlfriends blue eyes. A magical glimmer was born and every time this happened and I just happened to catch that right moment my heart would melt for her all over again. It was M A G I C A L !!! Seriously, magical..you don’t even know. The 3 days of relaxing and melting into love, was nothing short of blissful.
Today I awoke with the intentions of getting back into the swing of things. Casually awakening, casually jumping in the shower and casually getting dressed. No rush, no rush.It wasn’t until I opened my inbox for the shop that I realized 3 days was much much too long! Vacation = NO BUENO! Swamped with inquiring messages, shipments that needed to be sent out asap and mounds of paperwork that needed to be taken care of…I started to freak out (p.s. I just quit smoking, working on my 3rd week to be exact! So, to me, the world was ending). I’m now completely overburdened by all the tasks that need to get completed and have sworn off vacations all together!!
Or so I think…

Brando always manages to find time to relax. In fact, that’s all he does.
Lucky dog.
