Q & A Time, Yo! [The Weird]
——What was the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen on a pick?——
When I first started this whole thing there were a lot of things that stood out as possibly being “weird.” But, as you continue to do this type of work the weird manages to normalize and ends up becoming something that wouldn’t make you think twice otherwise. Ehhh…..
There is one thing that still, to this day, bugs me out…
Normally, I avoid the front display cases like they’re the plague (for reasons I’ll explain at a later date) but on one particular pick I was feeling a little adventurous. As I started scanning and inquiring about certain items in the case I happened to find myself constantly going back to this odd looking jar. At this point I felt my adventurous side wearing off and my normal self, the painfully shy me, start creeping back into play.But just before I became a mute, “Hurmmmm…what’s in that jar? Is that a piece of hair?” **pointing finger**
“Oh. [smugly continuing] This is Sammy Davis Jr.’s eyeball.”
“What? Heh. Uhh, you’re serious?! How the hell..”
“The doctor was actually on the opthamology team that treated Sammy when he got into his car accident.”
“How much are you selling it for?”
“$80”
“Uh huh. Can I take a picture of it?”
“Sure. Go ahead”
“Weird…”
P.S. I still don’t know why I thought there was a lock of hair in the jar. Preserved eyeballs don’t look like locks of hair…
