Lately I’ve been wondering, Are All Artists Egomaniacs?

I’ve been encountering people recently who are extremely self-involved and believe their art is so incredibly amazing. Some believe that their relatively small paintings should sell for thousands and thousands of dollars even when their talent is arguable and they are completely unknown in the art world.

Not that I care if they are known at all and talent is difficult to define within the realm of art, but mainly it irritates me because it makes art inaccessible to most art-appreciating people. A self-obsessed artist only produces art to benefit their bank account and stroke their ego.

I believe art by definition is slightly ego-focused, but I decided to look around and see if I could find really talented artists that seem modest and don’t overprice their creations. Of course I began with Etsy because I am obsessed and we have a vintage shop on there. It turns out there are some really great and affordable works of art out there!
